In the quiet times ideas flow, filling my imagination with shapes, textures and movements. Inspiration is just outside – a pheasant in the field, the horse trotting up the road or a dog out for a walk, eager to be allowed to run.
A coil of wire becomes the bones of a new sculpture to be draped time and again as the layers build, suggesting muscles, hooves or the wind catching a mane. Metallic colours brush the surface emphasising the layers, adding depth. Even in stillness there is movement, the intention before the muscles react, poised to leap or simply to turn the head. Sometimes the materials themselves determine the shape, the tension they create suggesting a movement that had not previously been there. The possibilities are endless, the studio awaitsâ€Â¦
