John Alder - Sculptor

I see my task as a sculptor to be the manipulation of sensual phenomena to stimulate observers to experience in a new way objects or events that are otherwise unremarkable – a look askance aided by illusion. I believe that artistic concepts should dictate the means of expression and not vice-versa, thus allowing me the freedom to use any material, device or approach to achieve the desired end.
