Jo Dove trained at West Surrey College of Art and Design (Farnham). Since then she has been involved in making ceramics and teaching in further and higher education. Her work is hand thrown porcelain and white stoneware. She is influenced by Eastern ceramics and by the clay's softness and fluidity. Once the pot has been thrown, as little as possible is done to it so as to capture the tension and strength of the form. The continuation of the spiraling movement is evident in the final, fired form. The glaze and pigments used are to enhance the form, soft natural blues and greens emphasise the markings in the clay, capturing a moment in time, when the clay is still wet and fresh off the potters wheel.
