“The Arabic letters appearing in my work do not unfold as part of words, or sentences with big ideas. My art does not convey answers or solutions. The letters stand alone, fragmented, manipulated and stripped of literary significance. Yet they aim to combine into meaningful impressions, in each viewer’s perception.

There are also volumes of personal history in these works. Memories of journeys, cities and fabrics are in every letter’s curve or dot. My displacement across continents while yearning for spiritual peace is at times palpable. However, it’s the yearning for love and beauty that I hope you will experience looking at these works, and the power of Arabic letters to conjure up these sentiment.” - Rima Farah

Rima Farah was born in Amman, Jordan, considers herself Syrian, carries a British passport and lives and works in Tangiers, Morocco. Farah’s father worked for WHO in Africa and the family never stayed in one country for more then three years. She ended up in Britain to study art at the Eastbourne and Cambridge Schools of Art. This was followed by 17 years of travel and successful collaboration with British artist Kevin Jackson producing commercial neo-orientalist work for the Arab market. For the last six years she has worked solo, developing a truly unique oeuvre of prints and paintings stimulated by the Arabic letter and her private Sufi practice. Rima Farah frequently exhibits all over the Middle East and North Africa. Her work is included in major public and private collections, including the British Museum, the National Museum of Jordan, the DIFC Dubai, and Royal collections in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and the UAE.
