Iran

Born in 1961 in Iran, I lived there until the age of 17. After a brief stay in the United Kingdom I moved to the United States where I first finished high school (1979) and later my BA from Fresno State University (1980- 1984). My degree is in media and communication with the emphasis on cinematography. Subsequently I worked in an art gallery in San Francisco. In 1989, after a period of travelling around India, Mexico and Guatemala, I settled in London. There was a brief stint managing an art book shop in Soho. The next decade (1991-2001) was dedicated to my marriage and raising my children.

In the winter of 2002 I embarked on a journey of re-discovering my artistic strength. I took part in a number of printmaking work shops and studied with a variety of established print-makers in London. During this period I also spent numerous hours experimenting with different techniques of my own. On the whole I am in many ways and areas, self taught. - Afsoon
